Lorenzo Sala
Italian Photographer
biography
Lorenzo Sala, empathic, eclectic, in love with photography, this is his instrument to transmit the emotions while playing with light and shadows.
Some people who are posing for Lorenzo are professional models, while others are just common people, those who took a deep breath and decided to pose for artistic nudes to get new emotions and distract their mind.
His works are not about sensuality but about intricacy of shapes and expressiveness of bodies, which involves the viewer in a wonderful journey capturing attention and giving satisfaction of aesthetic sense.
Most part of Lorenzo works is done in two techniques: low key and high key. Low-key creates dark, underexposed images, a little bit grotesque but highlighting the contrasted shapes and tearing out desperate screams.
Otherwise the high key photos are overexposed, transparent, full of light almost holistic and they transmit different but intense emotions.
When showing for the first time his photo works in a gallery in Milan Lorenzo was asked if he could make them as painting. Since he had no professional experience in painting he was offered the collaboration of two painters to create works using his photos as subjects but Lorenzo preferred to create something on his own. He managed to print his photos on canvas and started painting over them using acrylic colors. The results are these mixed arts paintings that have already hit the floor of exhibitions in Italy, Slovenia, China and now in India.
