Claudio Capodondi
Claudio Capodondi, born in the ancient Etruscan city of Tarquinia, Italy, in 1937, is a master sculptor whose artistic journey reflects a deep connection to the world of art and culture. His upbringing in Tarquinia instilled in him a profound appreciation for history and beauty. Over the years, he has lived in both Rome and New York, drawing inspiration from the vibrant art scenes of these iconic cities.
Currently, Capodondi resides in Pietrasanta, near the renowned marble quarries of Carrara, where he immerses himself in the creative process. Surrounded by Tuscany’s dramatic landscapes and the rich legacy of master sculptors, he personally carves each sculpture with meticulous attention to detail.
Throughout his illustrious career, Capodondi has created 19 public art works in Italy, the United States, Japan, and Libya. His solo exhibitions have graced prestigious venues in cities such as Rome, Florence, Turin, New York, and Paris, showcasing his unique artistic language. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, he received the coveted Michelangelo Award from the city of Carrara in 2000.
