From Shanghai to Sanya, since 2012
What grows between events.
In April 2013, a few weeks after the company was established, five Italian artists exhibited at FYR Gallery in Shanghai. That first exhibition already held the idea that would guide the work to follow: bringing a work and its meaning to people and contexts unfamiliar with it.
Since then, the work has taken different forms across cities and countries. Some exhibitions have developed into continuing programmes; some meetings have led to relationships lasting for years. The Leonardo project, begun in Milan in 2015, is finding a permanent home in Sanya, where Salotto Italia–Cina, an Italian cultural salon, is also based, giving these relationships a place to continue.
The Timeline brings together documented milestones, from the project's beginnings in 2012 to activities already scheduled. Read in sequence, they reveal what grew between events: sustained work with artists, such as Lee Feng from 2015 to 2024, and return invitations from venues including the W Museum in South Korea and the Musée Océanographique in Monaco.
